Kontron Presents 2 Mini-STX Motherboards with Intel® Core™ i3 Processors and Intel® N-series Processors

Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT / Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), presents its latest motherboards K3921-N mSTX and K3921-H mSTX. The compact and reliable boards are "Made in Germany" and offer outstanding performance as well as functionality in a compact Mini-STX format. They are ideally suited for applications in industrial automation, medical, digital signage, KIOSK, POS / POI and casino gaming. Samples will be available to customers from November 2023.

The industrial motherboard K3921-N mSTX supports the powerful Intel® Core™ i3 processors and Intel® N-series processors (Alder Lake N) with the latest UHD Gen12 graphics based on the Intel® Xe architecture. The successor of the popular D3544-S (Intel® Gemini Lake platform) is equipped with numerous features such as two DisplayPorts v1.4, one DisplayPort via front USB type-C, an embedded DisplayPort and a dual-channel LVDS (24 bit). Up to three independent displays with 4K resolution (2x 4K and 1x FHD) can thus be supported. The K3921-N mSTX will be available for at least seven years and comes in four versions to meet individual requirements. Features such as 2x GbE LAN (1x 1 GbE, 1x 2.5 GbE) including teaming support, 2x COM ports and adjustable CPU TDP make it ideally suited for various industrial applications. The board features two M.2 connectors (for storage and Wi-Fi) as well as other interfaces such as GPIO and USB 3.2 Gen 2.

The K3921-H mSTX is the cost-optimized version of the K3921-N mSTX and meets individual requirements with slightly reduced functionality. It is equipped with the Intel® processor N100 and also offers 2x DisplayPort v1.4, 1x eDP and 1x USB Type-C (Alt mode). The board features a GbE LAN (without teaming support) and an M.2 Key-M connector with expansion option for PCIe and SATA. Via the USB Type-C on the front, the K3921-H supports PowerDelivery Sink mode, USB 3.2 Gen 1 and DisplayPort AlternateMode (DPoC). In combination with the compact SMARTCASE™ S501, the board is the perfect solution for Thin Client applications. The K3921-H mSTX is available for at least four years.

Both motherboards share common features such as support for up to 32GB of DDR5 4800 memory, dual power input (12 / 19-28V), M.2 Key-M (2230/2242/2280) and an M.2 Key-E slot (for WLAN-BT / PCIe and CNVi). In addition, both boards feature up to nine USB ports (USB 3.2 Gen1 / 2, USB 2.0). They are designed for 24/7 continuous operation in an extended temperature range (K3921-N mSTX: -10°C to 60°C, K3921-H mSTX: 0°C to 50°C). A matching SMARTCASE™ S501 will be available at the same time.
